The competition announcement, for the new sheltered housing  of Nyon, has as intervention area, a land with a steep slope. For this reason the building has been hypothesized partially hypogeal, in order to accomodate, below the ground surface, all the services. Above ground and organized in 4 levels, the 50 rooms required by tender notice.

The organization of internal routes is designed to give to the walkways, that distribute the rooms, an open and perennial view over the park, as well as the possibility to use the collective spaces, which act as a natural continuation of the same. The structure has been designed entirely in wood; except for the scale bodies which act as stiffering, with uprights laminated pace that articulates, over the skeleton of the building, the rhythm of the surface and of the rooms, acting also as sunblind on the side facing South.

The order of the “Y” plan, makes easier thematise spaces, while keeping them highly integrated with each other; it’s the case of collective departement rooms, which are located at the intersection of the two arms of the Ypsilon; making easier, in this way, integration among residents.
